Today, the Nevada Chapter is comprised of members from the entire state of Nevada including those members living in the northern portion of the state (the Northern Section).

In 1985 a group of interested professionals from a variety of Nevada’s green industry segments - Landscape Architects, landscape contractors, material suppliers, associated consultants and horticulturists – gathered for their first meeting (at Moose McGillycuddy’s) in a grassroots effort to promote the landscape industry in southern Nevada.

This group organized by Jack Zunino, FASLA subsequently met for lunch on a monthly basis in various locations, providing the opportunity to discuss pertinent common landscape issues relating to the people and projects of Nevada and to gain strength and momentum. At that time there weren't very many Landscape Architects in southern Nevada, but by 1990 the group had become large enough to apply to the national American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) to become a Section of the Southern California Chapter. This ensured southern Nevada was included in national level dialogue on issues and activities relating to Landscape Architecture, which was especially important during these years of dramatic change in southern Nevada.

With the continued population growth and rate of development, the number of landscape professionals continued to rapidly grow, allowing the Southern Nevada Section to apply and receive Chapter status from the national organization officially on October 1, 1998.
